halloween decorating on a budget (part one)

Oct 11, 2015

As a stay at home mom and my husband being the only income I have a pretty tight budget when it comes to decorating for the holidays.  I wish I could splruge and go all out but I can't, especially with birthdays and Christmas coming up. But that doesn't mean I can't decorate. I just have to shop smart and use the the things I already have on hand. Shop at your local thrift store, 99 cent only store, dollar tree. You'd be surprised at all the cute stuff they have! This year I wanted to decorate for Halloween with a more modern look so I'm using black and white as my color palette. I found a lot of cute things at the dollar tree. I'm also using things I already had, which i'll be showing how I used then on a different post in the next few days. But for now here are some of the things I'm using for my Halloween decor.
*sadly I threw away the gravestone shaped chalkboard because a little sticker in the back caught my attention. California phase 2 formaldehyde. I found out that the wood that was used is toxic so in the trash it went.

These little owls will go on my shelves.
This pumpkin will be be painted white to match my color scheme.
Adding these to my wall shelves as well.

Use an old book and burn the ends to give it a creepy look.
thrift store $1
This wood piece will be painted and used for a halloween sign.
scrap purchased at a craft show $1
