WHAT I WORE|THRIFT STORE FINDS

Jun 2, 2017

When I first started blogging every Thursday I would have a Thrifty Thursday post and show off my thrifty finds for the week. It's been a while since I have done one so I thought I'd bring it back. I'm still out thrift store shopping and finding amazing things so why not bring it back. I hope to inspire some of you who might be iffy on buying second hand but I promise that if you're patient you will find unique pieces that truly reflect your style for a fraction of what you spend at malls and high end stores.
A little run down on how long I've been thrift shopping, pretty much my whole life. Since I was a little girl my mom would drag me and my sister to the thrift store and we'd always find what I would call "treasures". I became obsessed with it and now do it with my kids too which they love. I love how out of no where they ask if we can go thrift store shopping. Umm, heck yeah kid! I'm always down for a thrift store run. Although shopping with kids at a thrift store is a bit stressful, it's totally doable you just have to keep them entertained. Of course I enjoy it more when I'm alone, so if you ever need some me time, head to the thrift store with some coffee and your set!
I go to thrifting at least once a week to multiple stores across town. Sometimes i'm lucky, sometimes i'm not. I'd say about 80% of my clothes come from thrift stores. My favorite thrift store right now is DAV which is a veterans thrift store. The prices are decent the selections are great and they help military veterans. My other favorites are Goodwill and The Rock Thrift Store, although when it comes down to donating I always go to the Animal Thrift Store lol seriously that's what it's called. They are a non profit organization and they help animals that are in need so it always feels good donating to smaller thrift stores.
Shopping at thrift stores requires lots of patience. You have to go through every rack thoroughly try everything on and decide if you absolutely love it or it's just going to end up hanging in your closet. One of the things I buy that others might cringe about is shoes. Eww, what? Haha, yeah totally do. I can't pass up a good pair of shoes for $5. You just have to make sure you properly clean and sanitize them and you'll be good to go! I also shop for my home decor (which is pretty much all I own) and my kids clothes. Which I'll leave for another post. I love thrifting because one. I save money and two. I love having unique pieces that not everyone might have. If you haven't already try it! You won't regret it.
The outfit I'm wearing was all thrifted except for my leggings and top.
Purse $4.99
Kimono $6
Steve Madden boots $4.99
