We've been keeping super busy this summer. A few weeks ago my husband left for Army boot camp and my oldest was off to college for five weeks for a summer program. So for five weeks it was just me and the littles. There have been lots of beach days and picnics. We've been finding lots of new places and the kids have been absolutely having a blast. I'm working on a post listing our favorite outdoor places to visit with kids so keep an eye out for that. As for our nature walk today we went to Mission Trails Regional Park. It's close to our home and the trails are very easy for kids. I wanted the kids to collect a few things from our walk so before heading to the trails we headed to the dollar tree. I found the perfect plastic containers with the right amount of compartments to be filled. Sophia was intrigued, she collected so many great things, while Aiden on the other hand filled his with rocks lol!
Mission Trails has a lot of history. You will find history of the Kumeyaay Indians who lived in what is now known as Mission Trails Regional Park over 2000 years ago. There are a few informational
posters with a little bit of their history. The kids were in awe knowing that natives used to live right where they were playing. This park is a very popular area and we usually go during the week. If you come with your kids do be careful, we encountered our first rattlesnake while hiking so be sure you're aware of your surroundings and always keep an extra eye out on your littles.
What a wonderful way to celebrate the summer!
